CAPE PRIDE - March 25, 2015

Good morning Cape Coral Employees, Physicians, Volunteers & Auxilians…

Board Follow-up
The delivery of healthcare itself is changing like never before. As we always have, we must invest and respond to change in ways that best meet the needs of our patients. We are reviewing our facility needs and capacity capabilities throughout the health system so we can plan for services into the future.  Since last week’s Board meeting I've received several questions regarding CCH capacity and expansion similar to our other system hospitals. Here’s the great news…

Cape Coral hospital has an additional 14 inpatient beds available and will be staffed next season. This year we opened an additional 42 beds and still exceeded historical high census days.  In addition, we plan on staffing to the full 291 beds through next season and just slightly lower in the late spring/summer months.  Beyond our current capacity, CCH has additional areas to add 22 beds in our existing facility and a 78 bed tower if future volumes warrant. As a system we will continue to review these needs.

We will continue to build on our clinical programs to best serve our community needs. Our leadership is committed to ensuring a safe environment for our patients and staff.

Please join our leadership team in congratulating Ray Cyr on his promotion to System Director of Rehabilitation Services effective immediately. Ray has provided outstanding leadership to the Rehabilitation Services team and LMHS as a whole and we look forward to his continued leadership creating a future vision and strategy to elevate the LMHS Rehabilitation Services team to new heights.

OHE – Healing Relationships and the Gift of Life:
The gift of life was celebrated today and made possible by organ donation.
The ICU staff, Life Link Representatives, the donor patient’s family, the chaplain and many other hospital employees came out to celebrate life at CCH. Through the kind gift of organ donation other lives have been saved. We celebrated by presenting our first Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony. The event occurred on Monday March 23rd, 2015 at noon. The flag will fly for 3 days until it is lowered and presented to the donor’s family as a keepsake and remembrance of their great sacrifice.
