CAPE PRIDE - May 20, 2015
Good morning Cape Coral Employees, Physicians, Volunteers, Auxilians…
Cape Coral Hospital Receives 2015 Sterling Award
Cape Coral Hospital is proud to be the first community hospital in the state of Florida to receive the Governor’s Sterling Award. For 23 years, the Sterling Award has recognized organizations and businesses in Florida that have successfully achieved performance excellence within their management and operations.
“It is an incredible honor to announce that Cape Coral Hospital has received the Governor’s Sterling Award for 2015 and has been identified among the best of Florida’s organizations and institutions,” says Scott Kashman, CAO of Cape Coral Hospital. “It is through the dedication of our entire team that we are able to achieve the level of excellence required to receive this award. Most importantly, through the application process we learned so much about ourselves, how we operate as an organization and how we can continue to improve and deliver even better care in the future.”
Sterling matches the Malcolm Baldrige-based assessment. Our management system is assessed against research-
based best practices in seven categories:
• Strategic Planning
• Customer Focus
• Measurement, Analysis, Knowledge Management
• Workforce Focus
• Operations Focus
We are working on celebrations and will share as we have more information. This was truly a system-wide supported effort.
• Stroke Awareness Month - In recognition of May being Stroke Awareness Month I would like to remind every staff member that YOU play a key role in recognizing the Signs and Symptoms of Stroke.
Remember the word “FAST”
o Face Dropping, or appears unequal
o Arm Weakness
o Speech Difficulty with words or answering questions
o Time Call 911 - Don’t Wait
Your ability to recognize someone having a Stroke and responding quickly is critical to preventing long term disabilities. Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the US.
I would like to thank the Cape TEAM: all the ED Physicians, the ED staff, Radiology, Pharmacy, Lab, ICU, Medical-Telemetry, NPCU, Dietary, Speech, OT, PT, Care Management, Clinical Educator, Clinical Regulatory Analyst, Spiritual Services, Wellness Center and the Rehab Hospital for their ongoing daily dedication, compassion and care they provide by working together for each patient, their family members and the ongoing support and dedication to educating our community about our Stroke Program.
• Happy EMS Week!
I want to hear from you…
